Setup Salesforce Community and Permissions
In the Introduction to Salesforce Community article, I explained that Community Cloud is an online social platform offering beautiful digital experience which are customized for customers, partners and employees so as to establish a better relationship and amazing service. With community Cloud we can build site, portals and forums very easily.
In this article we will focus on Setting up community.
Setting up a community includes a series of tasks that you must perform in Salesforce setup and in the community itself.
This article will cover:
- How to enabling communities
- Setting up user profiles for community membership
Perquisite
Ensure that your organization has Community License. From Setup enter Company Information and you will see list of user licenses.
Salesforce Community is Available in: Enterprise,Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.
Enable Communities
- Go to setup-> Enter Communities Setting
- Select Enable Communities
This will enable communities in your org
Enter Domain name and check the availability.
Now your community is enabled
Note: After you enable Communities, you can’t disable it.
Create a Permission Set
- Select New
- Add label as Customer Support Community Pilot Group
- Select Save
Create a Community
So lets create our first community. Excited. Lets choose from a prebuilt template.
Lets select Customer Service Template
Select Get started
Fill name and URL suffix and then click Create
Now you are in the Community Workspaces. It is your one-stop shop for building, setting up, and monitoring your community.
Set profiles and permission sets which have access to the community
- Select Administration tile
- Click Members
- Select Profiles: Custom: Support Profile and Customer Community User.
- In the Available Permission Sets list, select Customer Support Community Pilot Group.
- Save
